Jinnah Sindh Medical University has posted fresh admission calls for MBBS/BDS (2026-27, including Overseas) and BBA/MBA (2027). Here is what's published so far and how to find the exact deadlines.

Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) in Karachi has kicked off a fresh round of admissions this October, with new advertisements posted for its flagship MBBS and BDS programmes as well as its business degrees, the BBA and MBA. If you have been waiting for a Karachi-based medical or business education option with a public-sector character, this is the admission window to watch closely.

    What was announced, and when

On October 12, 2026, JSMU's admissions office posted three separate calls. The first covers MBBS and BDS admissions for the 2026-27 session, for which the university has published an advertisement, a prospectus, and opened its dedicated online application portal at jsmuadmissions.jsmu.edu.pk. A few days later, on October 16, the university followed up with a document checklist specifically for applicants in the Public category, which is worth reviewing closely since it lists exactly what paperwork needs to accompany a Public-category application.

Alongside the domestic MBBS/BDS call, JSMU also posted a parallel notice for MBBS and BDS Overseas admissions for the same 2026 session, again on October 12, which comes with its own advertisement, prospectus, online application process, and a separate explanatory notice. Overseas applicants, including Pakistani students who completed schooling abroad as well as foreign nationals, should make sure they are applying through this overseas-specific track rather than the general Public-category process, since the two carry different document and eligibility requirements.

The third announcement, also dated October 12 (and first flagged back on September 9), covers BBA and MBA admissions for the 2027 session. Applicants to these business programmes should apply through the university's separate admissions portal at admissions.jsmu.edu.pk rather than the medical-admissions portal used for MBBS and BDS.

What the published notices do, and do not, tell applicants

It is worth being upfront about a gap in the publicly available information: while JSMU has confirmed that applications are open and has published the advertisement and prospectus documents for each of these tracks, the specific closing dates, entry test schedules, and detailed eligibility criteria for this particular round are contained within those advertisement and prospectus PDFs rather than stated directly on the university's admissions announcement page. Prospective applicants should treat the prospectus for their specific programme as the authoritative source for deadlines and eligibility, and should not assume a date simply because a previous year's cycle followed a particular pattern.

What we do know from JSMU's broader admission history is that the university runs a fairly structured process for its allied health and graduate programmes: for instance, its MSPH cycle this year moved from an advertisement in June, through an entry test in July, to a selected candidates list by the end of August, while its MBA and BBA entry test results for the prior cycle were released in February after a test held in early February. This suggests JSMU typically allows a multi-week gap between an admission announcement and the eventual entry test, though applicants to the current MBBS/BDS and BBA/MBA calls should still confirm exact dates from the official prospectus rather than assuming this pattern repeats exactly.

JSMU also has several postgraduate and research programmes running on separate, independent timelines. Its MPhil and PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences for the 2026-27 session, for example, were advertised back in July, had their deadline extended to July 27, ran entry tests in mid-September, and had results out by September 29, meaning that particular cycle is already well past its application stage. Applicants interested in research degrees such as MPhil or PhD in Anatomy, or in Pharmacy Practice and Pharmaceutics, should check each programme's own advertisement date separately, since JSMU does not run all its postgraduate admissions on a single shared calendar.

    What applicants should do next

Given that exact deadlines for the current MBBS/BDS 2026-27, MBBS/BDS Overseas, and BBA/MBA 2027 calls are published within the programme-specific prospectus and advertisement documents rather than on the general admissions page, the most reliable next step for any interested applicant is to download the prospectus for their specific programme directly from jsmuadmissions.jsmu.edu.pk or admissions.jsmu.edu.pk and note the submission deadline, required documents, and entry test date stated there. Public-category MBBS/BDS applicants in particular should review the October 16 document checklist before starting their application, since incomplete submissions in this category are a common reason for otherwise eligible candidates to be screened out early. Given that all three calls were posted within the same week in mid-October, applicants juggling more than one of these programmes should also build in enough time to prepare separate document sets, since each portal and prospectus operates independently of the others.
