NUST has opened NET Series-1 registration for its Fall 2027 undergraduate intake, open October 4 to November 14, 2026, with the computer-based test on November 17 at the Islamabad campus. Here is what to know before you apply.
The National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) has opened registration for Series-1 of its NUST Entry Test (NET) for the Fall 2027 undergraduate intake. Online applications are open from October 4 to November 14, 2026, and the computer-based test is scheduled to begin November 17, 2026, at the NUST campus in Sector H-12, Islamabad. Students applying to any of NUST's undergraduate faculties this cycle should start preparing their application now, since the four-week registration window closes quickly once classes and test slots fill up.
Which programmes are open this series
This NET series covers undergraduate admissions across NUST's main faculties: Engineering and Technology, Computing and Information Technology, Life Sciences and Medicine, Natural and Applied Sciences, Business Studies and Social Sciences, and Architecture and Design, as well as the LLB programme. Most of these programmes begin classes in September 2027, though Aerospace and Avionics Engineering at the College of Aeronautical Engineering starts a month later, in October 2027.
Eligibility criteria
NUST's standard entry requirement for NET-based admission is an SSC (Science Group) or O Level qualification, or an equivalent, with at least 60% marks, plus an HSSC qualification (Pre-Medical or Pre-Engineering group, depending on the programme) or A Level, or equivalent, again with a minimum of 60% marks. Candidates can also qualify through alternative routes that NUST accepts alongside the NET: a NUMS Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) or National MDCAT score of at least 50%, or a qualifying ACT score. Since exact subject combinations and cut-offs can vary by faculty and change between admission cycles, applicants should always confirm the specific criteria for their intended programme on NUST's official undergraduate admissions portal before applying.
How to register
Registration is entirely online. Applicants create an account on the official NUST website using a valid email address, complete the application form, and upload a recent passport-size photograph with a plain background. NUST sends an email confirming receipt of the form. Applicants then log back in to their account to generate and print a fee invoice, which must be paid at any HBL branch; payment confirmation is typically reflected within about five days. For the computer-based test, candidates choose their preferred test date and session once registration is confirmed, with slots allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so applying early improves the chance of getting a convenient slot. After successful registration, NUST issues a roll number, test session details, a login ID and password, and the assigned test centre, all of which are needed to download and print the admit card.
On test day, candidates must bring their admit card along with original CNIC (or Form-B/Family Registration Certificate for younger applicants), and their original Matric or FSc certificate or equivalent, with a photograph. NUST has stated that any false or misleading information discovered at any stage of the admission process can result in the application being cancelled, so applicants should double-check every field before submitting.
Test format and fees
The NET is based on the HSSC-level curriculum, and candidates are generally advised to revise textbooks recommended by their respective education boards for their group (pre-engineering, pre-medical, or computer science, depending on the target faculty). The standard application processing fee is Rs. 2,000 for Pakistani nationals, dual nationals, and Pakistani-origin candidates applying through NET or MDCAT-based routes; overseas applicants pay Rs. 10,000. Candidates may sit the NET only once per series, but since NUST runs multiple series across an admission cycle, a candidate's best score across the series they attempt is the one counted toward merit.
Fee concessions and financial aid
Students who secured first, second, or third position in their HSSC board examinations may be eligible for an exemption from the test processing fee; NUST has said such candidates should email proof of their position to the Admissions Directorate. Separately, students intending to apply for need-based financial aid should submit their scholarship application before the NET Series-1 registration window closes, since NUST ties financial aid consideration to the admission cycle timeline rather than processing it afterward.
Before you apply
Because entry test schedules, eligibility thresholds, and fee structures can be revised between series and between admission years, applicants should treat the dates and criteria above as the position at the time of writing and verify current details directly on NUST's official undergraduate admissions portal before submitting payment or travelling to a test centre.
