In 1996 , the Sindh Assembly passed unanimous bill known as the Baqai Medical University Act under which the Baqai Medical University was established. The university is spread on 72 acres of land , the constructed area is 7,27,374 sq.ft in seven blocks of buildings . The well-known Medical School accommodates 13 institutions/departments and awards 19 different degrees and diplomas in various specialties. The student body consists of 1800 students with many notable and prestigious alumni. Approximately around 1000 individuals are employed in different capacities by the university. Highly qualified and well-experienced faculty members are a major attraction of the university. The faculty members are given incentives such as grants and scholarships to travel abroad for seminars, conventions and higher education.
