There is a major dearth of teachers actively engaged in quality learning for social transformation and sustainable development. The achievement of EFA and Millennium Development Goals is a major challenge, especially without teachers who are critical thinkers and enablers of learning amidst challenges of democracy, regional/global peace, environmental change and sustainability. The establishment of the Institute for Professional Learning (IPL) is a response to such tall challenges through a comprehensive teacher education program.
