The Balochistan government will fund 10 students a year to pursue PhDs abroad at top-100 QS-ranked universities under its Education Endowment Fund.
The Balochistan government has launched a fully funded scholarship program to send students from the province abroad for doctoral studies, administered through the Balochistan Education Endowment Fund (BEEF).
Under the program, 10 deserving students will be supported each year to pursue PhD degrees at internationally recognized universities. To qualify, applicants must already hold an unconditional, valid offer letter for a PhD program from a university ranked among the world's top 100 in the QS rankings for the relevant academic session.
Candidates must have maintained at least 60 percent marks throughout their academic career, with no more than one second division allowed at any stage apart from the MS/MPhil level. Permanent or regular faculty members at public-sector teaching or educational institutions, as well as public servants of Pakistan, are not eligible to apply, and candidates must have no criminal record.
As part of the selection process, BEEF will hold an aptitude test, and applicants will need to submit references from at least two individuals. The BEEF management committee has indicated that detailed application frameworks, qualification benchmarks, and selection criteria will be released through designated institutional portals in the coming days.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti described the initiative as a step toward changing the future of the province, framing education and research as central to Balochistan's development and as an alternative route away from conflict.
