The government has opened applications for its PM Youth Chromebook Scheme, which will distribute 500,000 Chromebooks to top-performing Grade 9 and 10 students through a portal run by the Inter Boards Coordination Commission.
The government has announced plans to distribute 500,000 Chromebooks to students across Pakistan under the Prime Minister's Youth Program, as part of its broader Digital Pakistan push to expand access to digital learning tools. The scheme is being run through a dedicated portal managed by the Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC).
Eligibility for the scheme depends on a student's education board and academic performance. In Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, the Chromebooks will go to top-performing Grade 9 (SSC-I) students from government and public schools. In Islamabad Capital Territory, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, both top-performing Grade 9 (SSC-I) and Grade 10 (SSC-II) students are eligible. Students from private schools are not covered under the criteria published so far.
To apply, students need to visit the official portal at pmychromebooks.ibcc.edu.pk, select the education board under which they appeared for their exam, and enter their CNIC or B-Form number along with their roll or registration number and date of birth as it appears on their official record. After clicking "Find My Record" and verifying that the displayed details are correct, applicants must upload a recent colour photograph, their SSC-I or SSC-II mark sheet, and attested copies of their own CNIC or B-Form and their father's or guardian's CNIC. All uploaded files must be under 300 KB and remain clear and readable. Once submitted, the application cannot be edited, and each student may apply only once. After submission, applicants can download a slip containing a reference number for their records.
The portal does not list a single nationwide deadline; instead, each education board is expected to announce its own schedule, so students should watch for announcements from their respective boards regarding the last date to apply.
