A Senate committee says Sindh's MDCAT will be redone if negligence is confirmed, after paper-leak complaints and alarming Karachi results prompted a federal inquiry.

The possibility of a fresh Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) in Sindh remains under review, as the Senate Standing Committee on Health awaits the findings of an official inquiry before deciding whether the province's candidates will sit the exam again. Committee chairman Amir Chishti, an MQM-P lawmaker, said on October 2 that the test would be reconducted in Sindh if negligence is proven, describing the situation as similar to paper-leak complaints that surfaced in the province two years earlier. He said this year's concerns were concentrated mainly in Karachi, where MDCAT results were described as alarming, prompting instructions to the Ministry of Health. According to Chishti, no complaints about the exam have come from any other part of the country. To investigate, the Senate committee directed the Ministry of Health to form an inquiry panel and visit IBA Sukkur, the institution responsible for administering the test in Sindh. A four-member professional team was dispatched from Islamabad to Sukkur to examine how many students sat the exam at each testing centre and what facilities were provided to them. Chishti said that if irregularities are confirmed, responsibility would fall on both the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) and the Government of Sindh. He added that no final decision on a retest has been made, and that the committee's future course of action will depend on its final inquiry report. For the thousands of aspiring medical and dental students in Sindh who sat MDCAT 2026, the outcome of this inquiry will determine whether their results stand or whether they must prepare to retake the test. Students are advised to watch for official updates from the PMDC and IBA Sukkur rather than relying on unconfirmed reports.
