Punjab's Online College Admissions System has logged more than 225,000 intermediate admission applications, with female students submitting nearly two-thirds of the total.

More than 225,000 students have applied for intermediate admissions in Punjab's public colleges through the province's Online College Admissions System (OCAS), according to figures released by the system. Female applicants accounted for the majority of submissions, with more than 147,000 applications, or roughly 65.25 percent of the total, compared to approximately 78,000 applications from male students, about 34.75 percent. FA (Faculty of Arts) was the most sought-after program, drawing 86,220 applications, followed by ICS (Intermediate in Computer Science) with 72,043 applications. Together, the two programs made up around 70 percent of all applications received. FSc Pre-Medical ranked third with 39,255 applications, and female students made up about 80 percent of applicants in that discipline. FA-IT received 9,951 applications, with women accounting for 63 percent of that total. OCAS was developed by the Punjab Information Technology Board in partnership with the Punjab Higher Education Department to centralize and digitize college admissions across the province. The system is integrated with the payment platform PayZen, allowing applicants to pay admission fees through mobile banking, ATMs, debit and credit cards, TCS outlets, or branchless banking services, rather than visiting colleges in person. The high volume of applications, and the strong representation of female students in particular, points to continued growth in demand for intermediate-level education through Punjab's digitized admission process.
