Punjab's government will start handing out laptops and Honhaar scholarships to students across all nine divisions starting October 15, with the first ceremony in Sahiwal.

Punjab's Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced that the distribution of laptops and Honhaar scholarships to students across the province will begin on October 15, 2026, and continue through October and November. In a social media post, Hayat called the schedule "good news for students waiting to receive laptops and scholarships," and said the rollout would eventually reach students in all nine divisions of Punjab. He said similar distribution events would be held in the remaining divisions over the following weeks, with the goal of completing the process within the announced two-month window. The first ceremony will take place on October 15 at the University of Sahiwal, where Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is expected to personally distribute laptops and scholarships to students from the Sahiwal, Okara, and Pakpattan districts. The distribution combines two existing Punjab government initiatives: the Honhaar Scholarship Programme, which provides financial assistance to students pursuing higher education, and the Chief Minister's Laptop Scheme, which supplies students with devices intended to support academic work, research, and online learning. The education department has not yet disclosed how many laptops or scholarships will be handed out at each ceremony, nor has it announced specific dates and venues for the remaining divisions. Students in other parts of Punjab are advised to watch for further announcements from the provincial government as the rollout continues.
