Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur has declared 1,184 LLB academic records invalid after an inquiry found they had been entered into the university system without lawful authority.
Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) in Khairpur has cancelled the academic records of 1,184 LLB candidates after an internal inquiry concluded that these records were not lawfully part of the university's system. The university issued its notification on October 16, 2026.
Of the cancelled records, 658 belong to candidates from the three-year LLB program from the 2016, 2017, and 2018 passing years, while 526 belong to candidates from the five-year LLB program's 2017 batch.
The process began after the university's Syndicate passed resolutions at its 92nd meeting on April 11, 2026, prompting an inquiry committee to review the records. The committee compared the university's own records against those held by affiliated law colleges, including institutions in Jacobabad, Kandhkot, and Kashmore, and flagged entries it suspected had been added without proper authorization.
Before finalizing its decision, the university published a public notice in July, both on its website and in the national press, giving affected candidates 15 days to submit evidence supporting the legitimacy of their records. After reviewing the responses and the colleges' evidence, the inquiry committee determined that the disputed records were not genuine parts of the university's academic record.
As a result, any result, transcript, provisional certificate, degree, or other academic document tied to these records has been declared invalid and void from the outset, meaning the university will not recognize them as having been lawfully issued. Copies of the notification have been sent to the Higher Education Commission, the Pakistan Bar Council, and the bar councils of Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan, as well as to the principals of the affiliated law colleges involved.
This is not the university's first such action; according to the report, SALU cancelled 1,280 LLB degrees in a similar exercise the previous year.
