Pakistani PhD holders and researchers can now apply for the 2027 Fulbright Scholar Program, which funds US lectureships and postdoctoral research, with applications due October 28.
The United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) has opened applications for the 2027 Fulbright Scholar Program, inviting Pakistani academics, researchers, and PhD holders to apply for fully funded lectureship or postdoctoral research opportunities in the United States.
To be eligible, applicants must be Pakistani citizens currently residing in Pakistan and must hold a PhD or other terminal degree completed at least two years before applying. The program is open to all academic disciplines except clinical medicine.
Selected scholars can spend up to ten months at a US college or university on a lectureship, a postdoctoral research placement, or a combination of both. Those applying for a lectureship placement must be able to demonstrate university-level teaching ability. The award covers round-trip airfare, a living stipend, a research allowance, and health insurance, and also provides funding to support one accompanying dependent.
Applicants are responsible for independently contacting American universities or research centers to secure a letter of invitation before applying. A complete application package must include the application form, a detailed research proposal, three reference letters, and the invitation letter from the US host institution. USEFP is accepting only complete online applications submitted through its official portal; the organization has stated that incomplete submissions will not be considered.
The deadline to submit applications for the 2027 Fulbright Scholar Program is October 28, 2026. This program is separate from USEFP's Fulbright degree program for Master's and PhD study in the US, which follows a different, earlier annual deadline.
