About 9th Class
9th class, the first year of matric (SSC Part I). Students choose a science or arts group and begin the subjects they will be examined on at the end of 10th class. Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) set the 9th class annual exam. Papers usually have an objective part (MCQs) and a subjective part (short and long questions) and are marked separately.
General Science: how to prepare
Work through General Science one unit at a time, list its key terms and keep a short revision sheet for each. The notes on this page are grouped by class and board, so pick the ones that match your own and compare them with the rest of the General Science files linked below.
How to get the most from notes
- Use notes for revision, not as a replacement for the textbook. Read the chapter first, then use the notes to check what you remember.
- Match the notes to your board and class. Chapter numbering differs between provinces.
- Turn each unit's notes into a one-page summary of definitions, formulas and diagrams the night before a test.
- Test yourself on the same unit with a past paper afterwards to find the gaps in your notes.
