KMU has opened a centralised MBBS and BDS admission process for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's public-sector medical and dental colleges for 2026-27. Applications close October 21, 2026 — here is the eligibility criteria, merit formula, and the full merit-list and placement schedule through December.

Khyber Medical University (KMU) has opened its centralised admission process for MBBS and BDS seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's public-sector medical and dental colleges for the 2026-27 academic session, and the application window is short: forms close on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at 5:00 PM. If you're a pre-medical student in KP or a candidate from the newly merged tribal districts, here is what you need to know before the deadline closes.

    Which colleges does this cover?

KMU runs a single centralised admission for all public-sector MBBS and BDS seats in the province. That includes the province's public medical and dental colleges, KMU's own Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) and Institute of Dental Sciences (KIDS) in Kohat, and reciprocal seats available to KP-domiciled candidates in medical colleges in Punjab and Azad Jammu & Kashmir. You apply once, through KMU's portal, and rank your college preferences rather than applying separately to each institution.

    Who is eligible

To apply for MBBS or BDS through KMU for 2026-27, you need:

    • At least 65% marks in HSSC (FSc Pre-Medical) or an equivalent qualification recognised by KMU.
    • A minimum MDCAT score of 55% for MBBS or 50% for BDS, from the MDCAT held in 2024, 2025, or 2026 — so last year's or the year-before's MDCAT score is still valid if you haven't retaken the test.
    • KP domicile, or domicile from one of the newly merged districts, as required by the specific quota you're applying under.

    How merit is calculated

KMU's combined merit formula weights your academic record like this:

    • SSC (Matric) result: 10%
    • HSSC/FSc (Intermediate) result: 40%
    • MDCAT score: 50%

Because MDCAT carries half the weight, it remains the single biggest factor in your final merit position, but a strong Intermediate result still meaningfully moves your rank, so don't discount the FSc score if your MDCAT wasn't your best performance.

    How to apply

Applications are submitted entirely online through KMU's admissions portal at cas.kmu.edu.pk. Forms have been available since October 1, 2026. The application fee is Rs. 3,000 for each of the MBBS, BDS, MBBS-KIMS, and BDS-KIDS categories, payable at a Bank of Khyber branch. After paying, you must log back into the portal within 72 hours to verify your payment — KMU will not consider your application complete, and won't allot you a seat, until that verification goes through. Leave yourself enough time before the October 21 cutoff to pay and verify, rather than paying at the last minute.

KMU does not accept applications by post, courier, or in person — hand-delivered or mailed forms are explicitly rejected, and incomplete applications won't be processed. Double-check your college preference order before submitting, since this determines which college you're considered for once the merit lists are out.

    What happens after the deadline

Once applications close on October 21, KMU's published schedule for this cycle lays out the following steps, according to KMU's own admission notice carried by education-news outlets:

    • A medical board review for candidates applying under the specially-abled quota is scheduled for October 23, followed by an appellate medical board on October 26.
    • The provisional merit list is due out on October 30.
    • Candidates who want to raise an objection or claim about their position can do so online between November 1 and 3.
    • An appellate scrutiny committee reviews these objections on November 4 and 5.
    • The final merit list is scheduled for November 12.
    • MBBS and BDS placements against this final list run from November 16 to 21, with KIMS and KIDS placements following on November 23.
    • Candidates not placed in the first round get a second round of placement against vacant seats from December 1 to 4, and a third round from December 14 to 17.

If you don't make the cut in the first round, it's worth watching the portal for these later rounds rather than assuming your chance has passed — KP's medical colleges typically have some seats that open up as higher-ranked candidates confirm placements elsewhere.

    A few practical tips

    • Submit well before October 21; portal traffic typically spikes in the final 24–48 hours before any KMU deadline, which can make last-minute fee verification harder.
    • Keep your original bank fee slip and admission form printouts safe — KMU's notice explicitly asks candidates to retain original fee slips as proof of payment.
    • If anything on your form turns out to be false or forged, KMU can cancel your admission even after you've been placed, so verify your CNIC, domicile, and academic record details carefully before you submit.

For the authoritative, up-to-date version of this schedule, always cross-check with KMU's own admissions portal at cas.kmu.edu.pk or its official Facebook page, since provincial admission timelines can shift by a few days if the commission issues an extension.
