Missed the main Fall 2026 admission cycle? A handful of universities and entry tests still have live October deadlines - here is exactly which ones, and how much time is left.
If you assumed the Fall 2026 admission window had already closed, it is worth checking again — a few universities have either extended their deadlines into October or opened fresh admission rounds this month. None of these will stay open long, so here is what is actually still live, in order of how soon it closes.
Virtual University of Pakistan — closed 10 October 2026
Virtual University (VU) announced an extension of its Fall 2026 admission closing date to 10 October 2026, specifically to accommodate applicants whose board results were announced later than expected. VU's own notice states there will be no further extension, and that classes for the Fall 2026 semester begin on 12 October 2026. VU offers BS, Associate Degree, B.Ed, MS/MPhil, diploma, and short-course programmes entirely online, with admission forms submitted through vu.edu.pk. If you are reading this before the 10th, this is the most time-sensitive option on this list.
University of Health Sciences Lahore — closes 14 October 2026
UHS Lahore opened a second phase of its Fall 2026 undergraduate admissions on 2 October 2026, covering 18 undergraduate programmes, with the online application window closing on 14 October 2026 at 5:00 PM. Applications go through UHS's own online portal. Because UHS also runs the province's MDCAT process, this second phase is typically for seats left over after the first merit-based round, so competition for specific programmes may differ from the main cycle — check the individual programme's seat availability before applying.
Khyber Medical University (KMU-CAT) — registration closes 15 October 2026
For students in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa pursuing health sciences admission through the Khyber Medical University Centralized Admission Test, KMU has scheduled a third CAT sitting after its second test was already held on 3–4 October 2026. Registration for this third test closes 15 October 2026 at 5:00 PM Pakistan Standard Time, with the test itself scheduled for 25 October 2026. This route is specifically for students who have not already secured a seat through the earlier KMU-CAT sittings this year.
NED University Karachi — rolling admission, closes 15 December 2026
The one undergraduate-adjacent admission currently open at NED University Karachi is its one-year Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) programme for the Spring-I 2027 intake. Registration opened 1 October 2026 and stays open until 15 December 2026, with classes starting 9 January 2027. This is a longer runway than the other options here, so it is a reasonable fallback for students still finalising their plans, though it is a postgraduate diploma rather than an undergraduate degree — check NED's own admissions pages for which bachelor's qualification it requires.
What this means if you are still deciding
The common thread across all four is that each deadline is final — Virtual University has said explicitly there will be no further extension, and KMU's test-based system means missing the registration cutoff means waiting for a later sitting, if one is offered at all. If you are choosing between an on-campus seat (UHS, KMU) and a fully online degree (VU), decide based on whether you need a physical campus and lab access for your field, since that is the real difference rather than cost or prestige in most cases. Whichever you choose, apply a few days before the stated cutoff — online admission portals in Pakistan routinely slow down or go down entirely in the final hours before a deadline.
