UHS private-sector MBBS applications close November 6, 2026. Here's the schedule, merit formula, and what to check before choosing a private medical college.

Punjab Private Medical Colleges MBBS Admission 2026-27: What You Need to Know

Alongside the public-sector MBBS admissions already underway in Punjab, a separate and equally important process has just opened for students considering a private medical college. If you're weighing a private MBBS seat as an option — whether as your first choice or as a backup to the public-sector process — here is what's confirmed so far about the 2026-27 private admissions cycle.

    Who's running it and when

The University of Health Sciences (UHS) is also the centralized administering body for private-sector MBBS and BDS admissions in Punjab, just as it is for the public colleges. For MBBS, applications opened on October 23, 2026, and the deadline to apply is November 6, 2026. UHS is expected to release the first selection list on November 18, 2026.

For BDS at private colleges, the schedule is later: applications open December 18, 2026 and close January 1, 2027, with the first selection list due January 13, 2027.

    Scale of the private sector

This cycle covers a large number of seats: 34 private medical colleges are offering roughly 4,500 MBBS seats between them, and 18 private dental colleges are offering about 1,100 BDS seats. That's a meaningfully larger pool of seats than the public sector, which is worth keeping in mind if your public-sector merit position is borderline.

Candidates from all provinces, as well as overseas Pakistanis, can apply to private colleges provided they meet the prescribed eligibility criteria — this isn't restricted to Punjab-domicile students the way some public-sector seats are.

    How merit is calculated

The merit formula mirrors the one used for public-sector admissions: MDCAT contributes 50% of your aggregate, FSc pre-medical (or an equivalent qualification) contributes 40%, and matriculation contributes 10%. The minimum MDCAT requirement is 55% for MBBS and 50% for BDS, and both MBBS and BDS applicants need at least 60% marks in FSc pre-medical or an equivalent qualification. If you already calculated your aggregate for the public-sector cycle, the same calculation applies here, so you won't need to start from scratch.

    Where to apply

MBBS applications are submitted through privatembbs.uhs.edu.pk, and BDS applications go through privatebds.uhs.edu.pk — note that these are different portals from the public-sector ones (publicmbbs.uhs.edu.pk and publicbds.uhs.edu.pk), so double-check you're applying through the correct portal for the college category and sector you want.

Before you apply: compare colleges carefully

Because private medical colleges vary significantly in tuition fees, location, and facilities, UHS specifically advises applicants to review each college's fee structure, location, and facilities before submitting an application. Private MBBS and BDS programs can involve substantial tuition costs that differ a great deal from one institution to another, so this is not a step to skip — talk to your family about what's affordable before you rank your preferences, since you may only have a short window to accept a seat once offered.

    What happens after selection

If you're selected, UHS gives you just three days to deposit your fees and join your college. That's a tight turnaround, so if you're applying to private colleges, have your finances and required documents ready in advance so you're not scrambling once a selection list is released. All merit and selection lists are published on the UHS website, so bookmark it and check it regularly once the November 6 deadline passes.

Public vs. private: how the timelines compare

It's worth understanding how these two tracks relate to each other. The public-sector MBBS deadline (October 30, 2026) falls before the private-sector deadline (November 6, 2026), and the public-sector final merit list (November 16, 2026) comes out just two days before the private first selection list (November 18, 2026). In practice, this means many students will know their public-sector standing before they need to make a final decision on private options — but the private deadline itself does not wait for public results, so you still need to submit your private application by November 6 regardless of where things stand on the public side.

    Bottom line

If a private medical college is anywhere in your plans for 2026-27, don't wait to see how the public merit list turns out — the private MBBS application window closes November 6, 2026, independent of the public-sector timeline. Apply through privatembbs.uhs.edu.pk, make sure your MDCAT, FSc, and matriculation marks are entered accurately, and take the time now to compare fee structures across colleges so you're ready to make a confident decision if you're selected.
